Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador.

KUALA LUMPUR: Police today denied a claim that Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak was denied food under custody, following his arrest on Tuesday over his alleged involvement in the distribution of gay sex videos linked to Mohamed Azmin Ali.

“These are incorrect claims,” Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador said.

Farhash was among nine people arrested as the police widened their probe into the gay sex video clips.

Perak PKR earlier said Farhash was denied food for 24 hours.

“This should not have happened in the New Malaysia, but there are still inhumane elements in treating detainees,” it said.

Farhash is also the political secretary to Anwar Ibrahim, the PKR president.

Meanwhile, wading into the media war among top party leaders, Perak PKR expressed support for Anwar amid heightened tension between him and leaders aligned to Azmin.

Perak PKR said it is convinced of Farhash’s innocence.

It also called on the authorities to focus on the authenticity of the videos.

The videos feature two men engaging in homosexual activities, one of whom looks like Azmin.

Former Santubong PKR Youth chief Haziq Aziz had named himself and Azmin as the pair in the video.

“We hope the police act without prejudice and selective investigation or prosecution, and are transparent in investigating a high profile case such as this.

“The people demand to know the identity of the actors (in the videos) and their authenticity,” said Perak PKR.
