KOTA KINABALU: Scores of Manchester United fans from around the country converged at Hakka Hall here recently, to meet legend Rohnny Johnsen at United Malaysia fan club's fourth annual dinner.
Although it was Johnsen's first time in Sabah, the four-time English Premier League winner said it was always "mind blowing" to come to Malaysia due to the support the club receives from its ever-growing base of supporters.
"It's great to be here, all the support we have here is amazing... It's always good to come back to Malaysia and feel the warmth from supporters," he related.
"Thank you for all these years of support," he said to United fans.
Johnsen, who played for the Norwegian football squad, also predicted exciting times ahead for United under the leadership of his former club and international teammate Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
United Malaysia president Batholomew Jingulam said the dinner was more meaningful this year with the presence of a club legend, especially considering his plans to bring David May to the event two years ago fell through.
Jingulam added that this was United Malaysia's 26th year as an official supporters club and the theme of this year's dinner was "United Unite! The Legacy Lives On."
The oldest member of the club, Ivy Tan, also came all the way from Kuala Lumpur to attend the dinner.
