KOTA KINABALU: City police are on the hunt for three men who are believed to have been involved in a hotel robbery over the weekend.

Kota Kinabalu police chief Asst Comm Habibi Majinji said in the alleged 4.43am incident on Saturday (June 29), a man had entered a budget hotel on the pretence of asking for room prices.

From CCTV footage being circulated on various social media platforms as well as via WhatsApp, a woman is seen sitting behind a counter while checking on her handphone while a person lingers at the front.

Soon after that, two men enter and one jumps over the counter behind which the 25-year-old receptionist is sitting.

“The woman apparently tried to fend them off but one of the suspects managed to hold her off while another person grabbed her handphone and took RM200 from a drawer,” ACP Habibi said.

He said the suspects fled and the woman was left unscathed.

“A report was lodged around noon the same day,” he said, and a manhunt was mounted for the suspects.

ACP Habibi said they have yet to identify the suspects and urged the public to provide whatever information they have on the case.
