80 arrested in raids at karaoke centre, nightclub

PETALING JAYA: A total of 41 locals and 39 Indonesians were arrested following raids at a karaoke centre and a nightclub in Jinjang, Kuala Lumpur early Sunday (March 31) morning.
A team from the Sentul Narcotic Crime Investigation unit raided the two premises at about 3.30am on Sunday.
Sentul OCPD Asst Comm S. Shanmugamoorthy said during the first raid at the karaoke centre, police performed urine tests on 86 patrons, of whom 20 tested positive for drugs.
“We also arrested 39 Indonesians for possessing Ecstasy pills,” he said when contacted.
“We detained 21 of them after they tested positive," he said.
Those arrested, aged between 16 and 60, are being held under Section 12(2)(3) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug possession and Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act for testing positive for drug consumption.
“We will obtain a remand order for the suspects to assist with investigations,” said ACP Shanmugamoorthy.
