KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Comm Datuk Kamarulzaman has taken over as Bukit Aman Narcotic Crimes Investigation Department (NCID) director on an acting capacity.

He takes over from outgoing director, Comm Datuk Seri Mohmad Salleh, who is retiring on Thursday (April 25).

Comm Mohmad said it had been an honour to serve in the police force.

"There are a lot of things that I still want to achieve and to contribute to the police force, but it is time for me to retire.

The success of the police force rested not with one person, but with all police personnel and officers work as a team, he added.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun, who witnessed the ceremony, commended Comm Mohmad on his distinguished career.

"He has given his all in a career that spans 35 years. I feel a personal loss, as he is one my best friend and squad mate, having joined the force together on the same day on Jan 8, 1984.

"We wish him happy retirement. Finally, he will have time with his family," the IGP said in his speech.

Mohamad Fuzi revealed that Comm Mohmad was just 10 days older than him.

"I feel nostalgic, as my time ( to retire) is coming soon, too," he said.
