KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested 22 foreign women, working as GROs, after raiding a karaoke joint in Jalan Loke Yew here.

Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Mohamed Mokhsein Mohamed Zon said a team from the Cheras Anti-Vice, Gambling and Secret Societies Division (D7) and Narcotic Crime Investigation Department (NCID) raided the outlet at around 11.30pm on Sunday (April 14).


"We checked 48 men and 22 women, aged between 23 and 51, during the raid.

"Based on our investigations, the 22, including 18 Chinese nationals, three Vietnamese and one Korean women,
were working as GROs," he said when contacted on Monday (April 15).




"One of the men arrested was the premises caretaker. He was
arrested for employing the foreign women without any documentation, while the other three men tested positive for drugs.

"We brought all the suspects to the Cheras police station lockup for further action. The caretaker and three other men have been remanded for two days, while the women have been remanded for 14 days," ACP Mohamed Mokhsein said.

He added that police were investigating the case for drug trafficking, consuming drugs and immigration offences.

He also urged anyone with information on similar cases to contact the Cheras police at 03-9145 2222 or visit the nearest police station.
