A new brand of laptop brand, Avita, will be entering the Malaysian market, starting with its fashion-oriented Liber range.

The brand, under Hong Kong-based Nexstgo Company Ltd, has begun sales in the region since last year, rolling out in Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan.

Nexstgo chief executive officer Alex Chung said Avita would be aimed at younger users, as its design reflected their more fun and colourful attitude.

“Avita’s brand philosophy is to allow our customers to express themselves through technology and we aim to do this through out vibrant Liber range,” he said, during the launch in Kuala Lumpur.

For the first phase, the laptop would come in 10 colours – Purple, Angle Blue, Cloud Silver, Champagne Gold, Fragrant Lilac, Matt Black, Pearl White, Princess Pink, Space Grey and Urban Ruby. More colours would be released later.

Liber comes in two sizes – 13.3in and 14in – and both run on processors ranging from Intel Celeron to Core i7 and feature Intel HD graphics chip and battery rated to run for 10 hours.

Memory size ranges from 4GB to 8GB RAM, and storage from 128GB to 512GB.

The Liber has a multipurpose Type-C USB port which is also its charger, two USB 3.0 inputs, micro SD slot, mini HDMI and 3.5mm headphone/microphone jack.

The 13.3in weighs 1.37kg, while the 14in weighs 1.49kg.

Prices range between RM1,799 to RM4,399.

Nexstgo product planning and business development director Joe Lee revealed that the company also has a flagship laptop, the Nexstgo Primus and a smart mirror Imago in the pipeline, tentatively to be available by March.

The Primus was a more rugged laptop, rated to survive drops and spills of up to 350ml of liquid in four seconds.

Lee said the Imago is a smart mirror that ran on Android, and would be paired with a smart-scale to generate health reports on the user’s weight, skin condition, sleep quality and more.

The Liber would be the first to go on sale, available at Digital Mall in Petaling Jaya from Feb 10 onwards.

As part of the launch rollout, Avita is offering its 13.3in model at RM688, down from RM2,299, for the first 50 customers who purchase from its popup store in Low Yat Plaza or Digital Mall outlet, on Feb 10.
