JOHOR BARU: A Singaporean has been picked up for having drugs that could give fixes to 36,150 addicts, say police.

State deputy police chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Mohd Zakaria Ahmad said among the drugs seized from the 56-year-old were 5.83kg of syabu, 565g of ketamine, 220g of heroin, 35g of Ecstasy powder, 5,536 Ecstasy pills and 200 pills of Erimin 5.

“The suspect was picked up by police while riding a motorcycle in Taman Daya on Wednesday at around 9.15pm,” SAC Mohd Zakaria told reporters at the state police headquarters yesterday.

He said after police found 27g of syabu on the suspect, the man led police to his apartment in Taman Mount Austin where they found the rest of the drugs.

Initial investigation showed that the suspect was travelling between Singapore and here regularly for the last three months with drugs, mainly for local consumption, at entertainment centres.

SAC Mohd Zakaria said the total seized items were worth RM1.23mil.

“These included RM7,000, a motorcycle, a weighing machine, sealer and plastic bags.”

Investigations showed that the suspect, who tested positive for drugs, had a criminal record for a few drug offences.

“The man, who lived by himself in the apartment, will be remanded today for further investigations,” added SAC Mohd Zakaria.
