Bride to be Fined RM25k for providing illgal dental services after she learned how to perform the procedure to fix braces by watching YouTube

KUALA TERENGGANU: A bride-to-be was fined RM25,000 by the Sessions Court here today for providing illegal dental service at a hotel here.

Judge Rofiah Mohamad meted out the fine on Nurul Nadzirah Mohd Saidi, 21, who pleaded guilty to the charge.

She paid the fine.

Nurul Nadzirah was charged with committing the offence by providing dental brace fitting service at 10.05 pm at Hotel Permai, Jalan Sultan Mahmud, Kuala Terengganu, last April 27.

She was charged under Section 27 of the Private Healthcare Facilities and Services Act 1998 for breaching Section 4 (1) of the same law.

When handing down the punishment, Rofiah said she took into account that Nurul Nadzirah was now jobless and that she was getting married next month.

The prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor from the Ministry of Health, Nur Khaikiyah Samsudin.

Earlier, Nurul Nadzirah admitted to offering the service, despite not having any qualification or professional training in dental medicine.

She said she learned how to perform the procedure to fix the braces by watching YouTube and through friends. --BERNAMA
