MACC asked to give "further explanation" over probe into SRC International and the RM2.6bil political donation, investigation papers have been returned to them

A-G returns SRCI, RM2.6bil investigation papers to MACC for further explanation

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has to give "further explanation" over its probe into SRC International and the RM2.6bil political donation and the investigation papers have been returned to them, says Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali (pic).
Mohamed Apandi said that the Attorney-General's Chambers have studied two investigation papers relating to SRC International and an investigation paper involving RM2.6bil donation, which were handed over by MACC on Dec 31.
SRC International was a subsidiary of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) until it was taken over by the Finance Ministry in February 2012 via a non-cash dividend transaction worth RM1mil.
"After observing the overall evidence in the investigation papers, the AGC has returned those investigation papers to get explanation from the MACC over several suggestions and actions recommended by them.
"The AGC has also ordered the investigation papers to be returned as soon as possible," said Mohamed Apandi in a press statement Monday.
The MACC conducted investigations into SRC International over a RM4bil loan it took from Retirement Fund Inc (KWAP).
It was also probing the RM2.6bil deposited into the personal account of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, said to be a political donation from as-yet undisclosed Middle Eastern donors.
