Two Foreigners are expected to be charged for plotting an attack on the US Embassy and Jalan Alor in Kuala Lumpur

Police foiled a terror strike on the US Embassy here recently, and following investigations, are expected to file charges against suspects in custody for terrorism-related offences.
With three suspects in custody, including two foreigners, police are expected to recommend charges be preferred against the foreigners.
The third suspect is expected to be released on bail due to insufficient evidence.
Sources with regional counter terrorism intelligence links told The Rakyat Post the 39-year-old Indonesian suspect could face charges under section 130 of the Penal Code for offences related to terrorism activities.
The 39-year-old, who goes by the initials “HYA”, was reportedly linked to a plot to launch an explosive attack on the US Embassy in Jalan Tun Razak last month. As a diversionary measure, a similar attack was also to have been triggered along the popular food belt along Jalan Alor, off Jalan Bukit Bintang, where seafood restaurants are a known haven for tourists.
Counter intelligence officers from Bukit Aman, with the assistance of their American counterparts, mounted a series of raids during the last weekend of September and nabbed the individuals.
The Indonesian terror suspect was found to be in possession of evidence which linked him to the Al-Qaeda Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) terror group.
The other foreigner, a 30 year old found travelling on Syrian-issued documents, is expected to face deportation for contravening conditions under the Immigration Act.
He could also face imprisonment if sentence is meted out, and deported after completing the sentence.
Last month, the Australian and US governments issued a travel advisory warning its citizens to stay away the popular tourist destination of Jalan Alor.
The alert issued, according to both governments, was based on credible threat information due to a possible terrorist threat on Sept 24 at Jalan Alor and its surrounding areas
