KUANTAN – Six men, including five Indonesians, have been arrested for alleged involvement in immoral activities here, said district deputy police chief Muhammed Rizal Kamarudin.
He said the men, aged between 30 and 35, were dressed in women’s clothing when they were detained under Op Pasar last night.
“The suspects were arrested in the alleyways around Kuantan Central Market. It is believed that they were waiting for ‘customers’,” he told the press at the district police headquarters yesterday.
He said such activities have caused concern among locals, and the issue has gone viral on social media.
“The five Indonesians were also found to be undocumented.”
He said the suspects tried to evade arrest, with some climbing onto the roof of a nearby building, but added that nothing untoward happened.
All six are being investigated under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 for insulting behaviour, while the five non-citizens are also being investigated under Section 61(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1971 for not being in possession of a valid travel pass and Section 15(1)(c) of the same act for overstaying.
