
Police records the testimony of the driver of the red car who hit a cyclist in the recent viral hit and run case.
KUALA LUMPUR: Police recorded the testimony of a man believed to be able to assist in the investigation into a road accident involving a cyclist who was hit and run by a car on Jalan Kinabalu here, on Wednesday.
Head of the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT), Assistant Commissioner Sarifudin Mohd Salleh said, his department had contacted the 22 -year -old driver.
“He was present at the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Station at 4.45pm, then was released after evidence was taken.
"His car was detained for further investigation," he said in a statement on Wednesday.
Sarifudin said the initial investigation into the one -minute infectious video found that the cyclist was heading from Cheras towards Jalan Kuching at 7.15am.
“The cyclist was hit by a red car from the rear and the vehicle continued its journey without stopping at the scene.
"The 33 -year -old victim, who was working as a staff at the Kuala Lumpur City Hall, suffered minor injuries and had lodged a police report," he said.
Sarifudin said the case was classified under Rule 10 LN 166/59.
