Representatives of the Government and Pakatan Harapan today finalized a memorandum of understanding between the Federal government and Pakatan Harapan.
KUALA LUMPUR: After holding several rounds of negotiations, representatives of the Government and Pakatan Harapan today finalized a memorandum of understanding between the Federal government and Pakatan Harapan.
In a statement on Sunday, both parties agreed to sign this memorandum of understanding tomorrow at 5pm at the Banquet Hall, Parliament of Malaysia which will be officiated by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob together with Pakatan Harapan Party Leaders, namely PKR President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, DAP Secretary -General Lim Guan Eng, Amanah President Mohamad Sabu and UPKO President Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau.
The joint statement also mentioned that all parties have agreed that this memorandum of understanding is to restore the country's political stability in order to address the COVID-19 epidemic and restore the country's economy through a "bipartisan" cooperation approach.
"With this understanding, focus and priority will be given by both sides to the new political landscape through transformation and reform initiatives on government governance, in particular strengthening the role of parliamentary institutions," the statement added.
Both parties also agreed to fully disclose this memorandum of understanding to the public as a commitment to full openness and accountability.
