Malaysia qualifies for AFC U-19 Championship after beating Thailand 1-0

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia has qualified for the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Under-19 Championship next year.
It finished its qualifying Group G campaign as champions after beating Thailand 1-0 on Sunday (Nov 10) at the Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Out of four matches, the Young Tigers collected 12 points.
Malaysia’s solitary goal was scored by Umar Hakeem in the 83rd minute.
Malaysia also ended the group unbeaten as it won all four matches.
Malaysia kicked off its campaign by beating hosts Cambodia 5-4, followed by two thumping victories against Brunei (11-0) and Northern Mariana Islands (10-0).
This will be its 24th appearance in the AFC U-19 Championships.
The 2020 edition will be held in Uzbekistan.
