KUALA LUMPUR, July 3 — Deputy Speaker Nga Kor Ming ejected Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman (BN-Pasir Salak) from the Dewan Rakyat this morning after the latter repeatedly interrupted Question Time.

He cited Clause 44(2) of the Standing Orders to expel a defiant Tajuddin and initially handed out a two-day suspension.

When Tajuddin refused to relent, however, Nga increased the penalty.

“Seeing that Pasir Salak is again defiant, I order him to be out for four days,” he said.

Despite being heckled by government MPs who pressed him to leave, Tajuddin remained at his place and shouted back at his critics.

Tajuddin had initially gotten into an altercation with Nga, after the latter ordered him to hurry with his supplementary question, as Tajuddin was taking a while to query Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister, Datuk Salahuddin Ayub.

Nga’s advice however appeared to have riled Tajuddin who then directed his tirade towards Nga, leading to an altercation with the deputy speaker instead.

In his argument, Tajuddin claimed that he was not satisfied that his initial question was answered by the Agriculture and Agro-based Industry deputy minister Sim Tze Tzin, instead of Salahuddin, and continued to interject the meeting.

After repeated warnings asking Tajuddin to sit down, an incensed Nga then ordered the meeting to go on, ignoring a Tajuddin, and calling on the Education Minister Maszlee Malek to answer the following questions.

“I want to ask, and even before I finished my question, you stopped me. Speaker stopped.

“This is the DAP’s attitude. DAP Speaker. Useless!” Tajuddin retorted.

This lead to Nga ultimately ordering the former’s suspension, explaining that though Tajuddin was given enough time to pose his question, he chose to accuse Salahuddin instead, which Nga ruled as baseless.

Despite strong resistance and continued criticism of Nga, Tajuddin eventually relented and left the meeting.
