PETALING JAYA: Wendy's Malaysia is believed to be closing down its operations nationwide, as speculation is rife that the local franchise holder did not renew its agreement with the franchisor.
Wendy's Malaysia is operated by Berjaya Group subsidiary, Berjaya Burger Sdn Bhd.
On Twitter, Twt Bajet said Wendy's Malaysia was closing because Berjaya Group had decided not to renew its franchise licence.
User Radikal Bebas said that the outlet at Paradigm Johor Baru recently shut its doors.
Paprikash also posted a photo on the last day of operations at the outlet in Berjaya Times Square on March 31.
Checks by The Star found that the outlet at The Gardens Mid Valley had also shut down, indicating that the rumours might be true.
Berjaya Group, however, declined to comment when contacted on Monday (April 1).
Several websites such as Inside Retail Asia and Hype have also reported on Wendy's Malaysia's closure.
Wendy's Malaysia Facebook page also appeared not to have been updated since January.
Social media users indicated that its Instagram and Twitter pages have been shut down.
Malaysians across social media platforms had expressed their dismay over the news.

"Please don't leave Malaysia, at least keep one outlet in Klang Valley and I'll be happy," he said.
Wendy's Malaysia opened its first outlet in Sunway Pyramid in 2008.
