PETALING JAYA: Mara will remain as a single entity and will be placed under the rural and regional development ministry, said Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad today.

This contradicts previous reports that Mara would be placed under the Economic Affairs Ministry, as stated by its minister Azmin Ali last month.

“I hope that the ministry is ready to shoulder this big responsibility,” said Mahathir at the Congress on the Future of The Bumiputera and Nation 2018 in KLCC.

He said this when responding to a question from a delegate on the issue of Mara’s fate and whether it would be split among different ministries.

“We will return Mara to one single ministry. It will be placed under the rural and regional development ministry.”

Mahathir said the government would ensure Mara’s success.
