Property developer chips in with RM3mil donation

PUTRAJAYA: Property developer Matrix Concepts Holdings has donated RM3mil to Tabung Harapan and pledged another RM2mil to help the Federal Government with its debts.
Group managing director Datuk Lee Tian Hock said the company decided to do its bit as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR).
“When I heard about the fund, I immediately called for a board meeting last Friday and we agreed to chip in.
“It is our hope that more public- listed companies like ours will come forward and help in the Government’s cause,” he said after handing over the mock cheque to Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng at the ministry here yesterday.
Matrix Concepts, said Lee, would be raising the additional RM2mil by getting its sub-contractors and consultants to chip in as well.
He said the company could afford the donation as it had been registering impressive performances in recent years.
Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad announced the setting up of the fund on May 30 for Malaysians to contribute towards reducing the country’s debts which currently stood at RM1 trillion.
Thanking Matrix Concepts for the donation, Lim said as at 1pm yesterday, the total amount collected was – excluding the RM3mil – RM35.3mil.
He also said an external accounting firm would be roped in to audit the donations, adding that the funds would strictly be used to reduce the national debt.
