PETALING JAYA: The management of a restaurant in Bangsar said the price increase after the abolition of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) from Friday (June 1) was not intentional, and due to a glitch.

This came after a receipt comparing a meal before and after the removal of GST went viral on social media.

The receipt of a Big Breakfast meal at the La Bodega outlet in Bangsar Shopping Centre (BSC) showed a RM6.60 price increase between May 26 and June 1.

The receipt stated that the total cost for the Big Breakfast meal was RM51.70 on May 26 and RM58.30 on June 1 although there was no GST charges.

"We are trying to fix the problem, and we are reimbursing anyone who had dined here in the morning," its operations manager Pandiam Balasubramaniam told The Star.

Pandiam said the system inadvertently took the price menu from its outlet in Pavilion, adding that the prices of its food there differed compared with its outlets in Telawi, Empire, and BSC.

He said about 30 to 40 people from their breakfast and lunch crowd have been affected by the wrong pricing.
