Azmin's nephew, company director released from custody

PUTRAJAYA: Two suspects held over illegal sand-mining activities in Selangor have been released from Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) custody.
One of the suspects is the 34-year-old nephew of Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, while the other is a company director, 67.
Magistrate Aida Khairuleen Azli allowed both of them to be released on RM100,000 bail with one surety each.
The two had been in MACC custody since Nov 30.
The remand for all four expired on Wednesday (Dec 6), but the court allowed an extension for Azmin's nephew and the 67-year-old. The two others were released on bail.
The MACC is investigating claims that the four have raked in huge profits from illegal sand mining activities since 2014
As part of the investigation, several lorries and bank accounts, with cash amounting to RM4mil, have been seized.
