KUALA LUMPUR: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has been advised to cut back on his working hours following a bout of flu and high fever.
The former prime minister, who is also Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman, was absent during the party’s Jelajah Semarak ceramah which was held in Ipoh, Perak, yesterday.
PPBM deputy president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir said his father has taken ill over the past week.
“I would like to send my father’s regards. He apologises for not being able to join us due to his poor health.
“Dr Mahathir has been down with flu and high fever for the past one week. He will still participate in activities organised during the day, however the doctor advised him not to join any activities at night,” he said.
A recorded message from Dr Mahathir was aired at the Jelajah Semarak, which is part of PPBM’s nationwide ceramah tour.
Also present at the event were PPBM president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and the Perak PPBM leadership. © New Straits Times Press
