Three killed while changing tyre as lorry ploughs into them

Two victims have been identified as Mitsubishi Triton driver Leong Chee Keong, 49, from Kajang, and Bangladeshi national Md Monirul Islam.
KUALA LANGAT: Three men were killed while changing a tyre on KM 21.9 of ELITE Highway's northbound carriageway when an out-of-control lorry ploughed into them.
OCPD Supt Zailan Tasir said two victims have been identified as Mitsubishi Triton driver Leong Chee Keong, 49, from Kajang, and Bangladeshi national Md Monirul Islam.
The third victim has yet to be identified.
The three victims were changing a punctured tyre on the Triton along the emergency lane nearby the Dengkil rest and recreation (R&R) area at the time.
Supt Zailan said the the 57-year-old lorry driver was heading home to Taman Putra Bestari, Subang Jaya, from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) when he lost control of the vehicle at about 1.10pm Friday.
“The lorry driver was travelling on the left lane when he lost control of the vehicle.
“The vehicle crashed into the Triton and ploughed into the three men. They died on the spot,” Supt Zailan explained.
The bodies were sent to Hospital Banting for a post-mortem.
Supt Zailan added that the lorry driver- who sustained minor injuries- has been arrested.
