Duterte’s 1st schedule in Indonesia: Meeting with Pinoy community

President Rodrigo Duterte's first schedule this Friday morning in Indonesia is a meeting with the Filipino Community there.


GMA News' Joseph Morong on Unang Balita said that the meeting would take place before noon, ahead of the formal acceptance ceremony for Duterte by the Indonesian government.


A photo of Duterte and Indonesian President Joko Widodo have been on display at Indonesia's national monument in Jakarta.


On the other hand, Morong said that Dutertete's primary mission in Indonesia is to try to get clemency for Mary Jane Veloso, who is on death row for drug smuggling.


Earlier, Duterte expressed hopes he could see Veloso and wished he could do something for her.


However, the Philippine Embassy in Jakarta said that there is no chance the President could meet Veloso, the report said.


Duterte arrived at the Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport in Jakarta, in his second trip to a member-country of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
