NEW DELHI: Police in Kerala, southern India have arrested 44 men who allegedly raped a teenage girl over a six-year period.
The 18-year-old victim claimed that about 60 men had sexually abused her.
Police said on Tuesday that they are now hunting for more suspects involved in the case that occurred in Kerala's Pathanamthitta district. Among those arrested included a sports coach, classmates and residents from the victim's village, according to local media reports.
The case came to light recently after teachers noticed the girl's unusual behaviour and reported it to the child welfare committee.
The victim told police that she had been a victim of gang rape at least five times, The Indian Express reported.
