Ulu Tiram Police Station attack: 7 individuals including Singaporeans remanded for 7 days

JOHOR BAHRU - Seven individuals, including a Singaporean, were remanded for seven days starting today until May 24 to assist in the investigation into the incident of the Ulu Tiram Police Station attack, early yesterday morning.
Magistrate Hidayatul Syuhada Samsudin allowed the remand to be held at the Seri Alam District Police Headquarters (IPD) here for investigation under Section 302.
The remanded individuals consisted of five members of the suspect's family, aged between 19 and 62, who were detained following an inspection at the suspect's family's residence early yesterday morning.
Also remanded are two local college students aged 21 and 22 who were also at the scene when the incident occurred.
All the suspects who are local citizens are represented by the lawyers of the National Legal Aid Foundation Muhammad Zahier Rosli, Bustaman Menon Abdul Hamid Menon and Sulaiman Zamani.
In the 2.45 am incident, Constable Ahmad Azza Fahmi Azhar, 22, and Constable Muhamad Syafiq Ahmad Said, 24, died after being attacked by a masked man armed with a machete, while Corporal Mohd Hasif Roslan was shot and was reported to be stable after being treated at Sultan Ismail Hospital. – BERNAMA
