Teen rape; Freelance Preacher remanded for five more days

The Ipoh Magistrate's Court on Thursday allowed an independent religious speaker to be remanded for another five days to assist in the investigation of a rape case involving an underage girl.
IPOH: The Ipoh Magistrate's Court on Thursday allowed an independent preacher to be remanded for another five days to assist in the investigation of a rape case involving an underage girl.
The remand order until August 1 was issued by Magistrate Noor Azreen Liana Mohd Darus after receiving an application from the police.
The application was made to allow the man in his 30s to be investigated in relation to the case that happened last January.
The suspect arrived at the court at about 1pm dressed in purple and handcuffed.
Previously, the suspect had been remanded in Selangor for five days for the same case.
The Perak police previously confirmed receiving a report of a rape case involving a suspect who was arrested in Selangor on July 18.
On July 19, the media reported that the suspect was arrested to assist the investigation in accordance with Section 376 of the Penal Code and Section 14 (a) of the Sexual Offenses Against Children Act 2017.
Preliminary investigation found that the 14-year-old victim had known the suspect since May last year.
The victim and the suspect are said to have had intimate relations several times in several different locations.
So far, four investigation papers have been opened, two in Selangor, one each in Kuala Lumpur and Perak involving the same complainant.
