The Home Ministry reveals the existence of a cartel in the Immigration Department

PUTRAJAYA: The Home Ministry (KDN) has revealed that it has received information on the existence of cartels at various levels among immigration officers, thus affecting the level of integrity of the department.

Its minister, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin, said the illegal activities would be investigated thoroughly and transparently.

He said the presence of the cartel allowed them to be free at the department's offices, including at the airport entrance.

He said the syndicate used internal officers at several levels and did not involve promotion but involved the use of certain officers to work together.

“For example in Sabah recently, there were advertisements on social media displaying individuals who want to get a Temporary Working Visit Pass (PLKS) can get from certain individuals.

"Immigration has never appointed any agent to issue PLKS and this is illegal," he said in a press conference in conjunction with the Immigration Day 2021 celebration here today.

Also present were the two Deputy Home Ministers, Datuk Seri Dr Ismail Mohamed Said and Datuk Jonathan Yasin; Home Secretary, Datuk Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz and Director General of Immigration, Datuk Khairul Dzaimee Daud.
