PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s son-in-law said he had hired a private helicopter to escape the devastating flood that hit Selangor over the weekend and displaced thousands of Malaysians.

Denying using a government-owned helicopter as claimed by netizens on social media,  he said: “I did not use the government’s asset, there is no way I would use something that is not my right.

“If you all want to insult me, go ahead. But that is a slander,” he said in an Instagram post last night.

Netizens had voiced their outrage on social media, claiming that Ismail sent a helicopter to son-in-law Jovian Mandagie’s office while others around the country were trapped in their homes by the rising flood waters, according to the local news portals and post on social media.

“If you don’t like me, just unfollow me. Please do better to help the nation than just saying things that are not true about me,” he said in another post.
