KUALA LUMPUR, May 29 -- There was no special press conference by the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Special Functions) as viraled today.
In a statement, the office denied the matter as its minister, Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Yusof, is currently undergoing quarantine.
Earlier, a media portal reported that Mohd Redzuan and Deputy Minister of Works Datuk Dr Shahruddin Md Salleh would hold a joint press conference at the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) headquarters at 5 pm.
According to the portal, Bersatu’s internal sources informed that the ministers would hold a press conference to announce their resignations from their posts.
Meanwhile, reporters gathered at the Bersatu headquarters in Petaling Jaya waiting for the media conference were ordered to vacate the meeting room on the 8th floor of the building by Bersatu staff.
The group of reporters were then ordered to the 9th floor at about 6 pm but about 30 minutes later they were again ordered to vacate the premises without being told if the media conference would take place.
As of 7.30 pm, the journalists were still gathered around the Bersatu headquarters.
