Duo arrested for snatching Chinese tourist's handbag in Cheras

PETALING JAYA: Two men were nabbed in a snatch theft case after they targeted a 44-year-old Chinese tourist and made off with her handbag.
The victim suffered injuries to her face, arms and legs when she fell due to the incident at Bandar Sri Permaisuri, Cheras around 3.40pm on Wednesday (July 24).
Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Mohamed Mokhsein Mohamed Zon said the woman lost her passport, mobile phone, RM4,000 in cash and a silver bangle.
"Following a report from the victim, we tracked down two men aged 26 and 27 at Bandar Tun Razak, Cheras and arrested them around 2.30am on Thursday (July 25).
"Along with the arrests, we found several packets of methamphetamines, an Eramin 5 pill, five mobile phones and several tools believed to be used in motorcycle thefts," he said in a statement on Friday (July 26).
The motorcycle used by the two men is believed to have been stolen in Petaling Jaya.
ACP Mohamed Mokhsein said that the older man had 21 previous criminal records involving robbery, motorcycle theft and drugs.
"The second man had 19 counts of similar charges. Both of them tested positive for methamphetamines," he said.
