PUTRAJAYA: 1MDB president and CEO Arul Kanda Kandasamy arrived today in Putrajaya for a meeeting with Lim Guan Eng, a day after the newly appointed finance minister said the ministry had been bailing out the troubled state firm with some RM7 billion in the last one year.
Arul arrived at about 2.50pm at the Ministry of Finance (MOF) building here.
It is his first public appearance since he was last seen during a series of roadshows nationwide to explain the 1MDB issue, in the weeks leading to the May 9 polls.
Yesterday, Lim said the finance ministry under former prime minister Najib Razak has also made payments to Abu Dhabi fund IPIC, as part of a settlement agreement amounting to RM5.05 billion.
Lim said it confirmed that 1MDB had deceived Malaysians by claiming that the debts were settled via a “successful rationalisation exercise”.
“All these while it has been the MOF who has bailed out 1MDB.”
