KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 26 — Former deputy prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s incessant attacks on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) is fuelled by an “ulterior motive” to become prime minister, a senior Umno leader said today.
“He took advantage of the ongoing situation to weaken the PM and position himself as the replacement.”
“He is trying to form a conspiracy. He wants to take advantage. He wants the post for himself,” Umno information chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa he told reporters in a press conference.
Annuar added that Muhyiddin was “ambitious” and attacking 1MDB was the best way to further his plans on being PM replacing Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
“Being a politician everybody is ambitious. My personal opinion he was trying to advantage of the situation. PM was embroiled by the 1MDB saga.
“He wanted to take over position of PM with the support of party members,” the Ketereh MP said.
Annuar Musa also pointed out that Muhyiddin was not genuine about 1MDB as he didn’t raise any concerns when he was in Umno or the Cabinet.
“He hasn’t spoken about a lot of issues. Only now he is speaking about it. Why didn’t he bring it up earlier? Why was he keeping quiet?”
“As soon as he was sacked as the Deputy prime minister he spoke about 1MDB at the Cheras Umno division meeting,” the Ketereh MP said.
