JOHOR BARU: The Permaisuri of Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris Shah arrived safely at the Senai International Airport from Mecca yesterday afternoon after performing the haj.
Raja Zarith Sofiah, who was accompanied by her daughter, Tunku Tun Aminah Sultan Ibrahim and sons Tunku Temenggong Johor Tunku Idris, Tunku Panglima Johor Tunku Abdul Rahman and Tunku Putera Johor Tunku Abu Bakar, was greeted at the airport by the Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar.
Sultan Ibrahim was supposed to have joined his family on the pilgrimage, but he had to undergo an angioplasty procedure several days prior to the date of departure after he complained of chest pains. The ruler decided to cancel his plans after doctors advised him that the journey would be too strenuous for him.
Also present at the airport to greet the royal entourage were president of the Johor Council of Royal Court Datuk Abdul Rahim Ramli, Speaker of the State Assembly Tan Sri Mohamad Aziz, Datin Seri Rosni Omar, wife of Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, and several state executive council members and state officials.
Upon arrival, the doa (prayer) was recited by the Mufti of Johor Datuk Mohd Tahrir Samsudin.
