The arrested suspect turned out to be a policeman.


KUALA LUMPUR: The 55-year-old armed robber who allegedly robbed a cybercafe in Sri Petaling here Friday is a policeman.

Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Sharul Othman Mansor said the suspect was a police lance corporal.

The robbery occurred at about 7am Friday on Jalan Radin Anum 1 in Sri Petaling.

The suspect, armed with a pistol, had robbed the cybercafe and fled with RM2,000 cash.



As he was making his escape from the scene, a cybercafe employee and his friends followed in pursuit.

The suspect fired a shot, grazing one of his pursuers in the chest.

He was later arrested at Jalan Radin Tengah, where police also seized a Sig Sauer pistol as well as the RM2,000 taken from the cybercafe.

The case is being investigated under Section 39 of the Firearms Act 1960 and Section 392 and 397 for armed robbery.
