KUALA LUMPUR: Former deputy public prosecutor Datuk Stanley Clement Augustin and his businesswoman wife Datuk Nika Gee Siew Yee are officially divorced.

Family Court judge Justice Mariah Ahmad recorded the dissolution of marriage in chambers in the presence of counsel S. Periasamy who appeared for Augustin and Choo Dee Wei for Gee yesterday.

Periasamy said the marriage was dissolved by mutual consent with immediate effect.

“The case is over,” he said before leaving the courtroom.

Choo, who was accompanied by co-counsel Bryan Ng Yih Miin, said the couple were now officially divorced.

“They are now on their own,” he added.

When asked on the distribution of wealth, Choo declined to comment on the matter.

Augustin, 65, and Gee, 54, were not present.

Based on the divorce petition filed on December 2014, Augustin married Gee on April 24, 2007.

The marriage was registered at the National Registration Department in Putrajaya, two days before Augustin retired from public service.

Augustin has served in various capacities in the Malaysian Judicial and Legal Services from 1982.

Upon retirement, Augustin became Bank Negara Malaysia's head of prosecution from 2007 to 2010 before he started his legal practice through Messrs Stanley Augustin & Co.

Augustin was a widower with three children from his previous marriage while Gee was a divorcee.

She has two children.

In the court papers, Gee said she knew Augustin via a friend, Datuk Yusof Khan, at Lake Club here around October 2002 when Augustin was in the process of divorcing his former wife.

She claimed that their relationship became closer by the end of June 2003.
