MUAR: Police have recorded statements from about 10 Facebook account holders over the circulation of text and photographs on the murder of a religious school clerk in Bukit Pasir on Monday.
"The police are very concerned and will most likely call up several more Facebook and WhatsApp account holders to record statements.
"This was being done after the social media users ignored warnings and reminders from the authorities to exercise responsibility in such matters.
"As such, we are forced to take firm action. We ask these people to come forward because we will eventually trace them," he told Bernama.
It had been reported that religious school clerk Nurul Shahira Mohamed Yatim, 29, was found dead outside the master bedroom of her house in Taman Setia Kasih, Sungai Terap, last Monday.
Her body was found by a neighbour after the engine of her Honda Civic car kept running for about four hours from 2 pm and the driver's door as well as the house door remained open, raising suspicion of the neighbour.
The police arrested six Nepalese men aged 25 to 43 who worked nearby several hours of Nurul Shahira's body was found.
Azman said Nurul Shahira's husband, Muhammad Faris Jaafar, 30, had his statement recorded at the Muar police headquarters yesterday evening to assist in the investigation.
Muhammad Faris was also upset that the case and photographs of his family had gone viral on social media when the investigation was ongoing.
Police chief ACP Azman Ayob (pic) said they had shared the information which had gone viral.
