PETALING JAYA: All was laid bare in the hacking of online cheating website Ashley Madison and its clients, including Malaysians, were exposed.
The hacking of the Canadian-based website, which promotes infidelity among married people, showed its Malaysian clients were mostly from Kuala Lumpur, George Town in Penang and Sabah.
Over 85% of the users were men except in Butterworth where men comprised 61%.
The information was posted by US website, Gizmodo, in a map of Ashley Madison users compiled by Malfideleco.
According to the UK Telegraph, the hackers had posted stolen information on Ashley Madison customers including names, physical and email addresses, payment details and descriptions of what members were seeking.
Gizmodo said that the hackers released another set of data that included the email inbox of Ashley Madison's parent company, Avid Life Media CEO Noel Biderman.
So far it is believed that information of around 37 million users of the website have been exposed.
Gizmodo also reported that the leak even set off an internal investigation by the Pentagon after it learned that about 15,000 email addresses associated with the US government and military have been found in the initial document dump.
With the adulterers of the world exposed for all to see, Ashley Madison's famous tag line "Life is too short, have an affair" might soon be changed to "Having an affair might shorten your life"
