KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Negara Malaysia's formal investigation into 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) announced in June has been completed, and the case has been handed over to the Attorney-General.
Governor Tan Sri Zeti Akhtar Aziz said the investigation papers and the "appropriate enforcement action" were submitted to the new A-G Tan Sri Apandi Ali earlier this week.
"Because of the ongoing investigation into 1MDB, we shared information we have relating to any relevant accounts to enforcement authorities," she said.
Zeti added Bank Negara was not an enforcement body and could not take action against any alleged wrongdoing
"Therefore, we shared the information provided to us from local banks or counterparts in other countries. The enforcement authorities have the info," she said.
