Notorious Mamak Gang boss nabbed

IPOH: The police have taken a big step towards crippling the notorious Mamak Gangwith the arrest of its mastermind.
Perak CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Mohd Dzuraidi Ibrahim said the 50-year-old was arrested at about 6.20pm on Dec 6 following a tip-off from the public.
“We found him holed up in a house in Taman Sri Desa in Kampung Tawas here with a woman from Sungai Siput. We believe she is his girlfriend. He has 25 convictions involving robbery, burglary, theft and vehicle theft,” he said, adding that the suspect was from Kampung Stesen in Kuala Kangsar.
The woman has no criminal record, but she and the mastermind tested positive for drugs after their arrests, SAC Mohd Dzuraidi said.
Police seized two cars, a police vest, a pair of handcuffs, fake vehicle registration plates, two walkie-talkies and two ski masks from the house.
A second gang member was arrested by police in Lenggong on Sunday morning.
The man, 37, has 20 criminal cases on his record and was wanted in Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Malacca.
SAC Mohd Dzuraidi said a third gang member was shot dead by police and identified him as Muhammad Asharaf Jamaluddin, 24, from Padang Rengas.
He said the policemen acted in self-defence when Muhammad Asharaf fired at them during a raid in Taman Bunga Raya, Kuala Kangsar, recently.
Among the items recovered during the raid was a semi-automatic pistol, ammunition, fake registration plates, four jackets with the police emblem, three ski masks, four Customs integrity badges, and two wigs.
The gang was involved in at least 24 criminal cases in Perak and others in Kedah, Selangor, Penang and Malacca.
SAC Mohd Dzuraidi said the gang has been recruiting, adding that it has at least 20 members in Perak.
Police are seeking Mohd Sharif Abu Bakar, 52, and Nazrulhizan Mohamad Ramli, 35, to help in their investigations.
