The musical extravaganza that celebrates Michael Jackson's 45-year musical career will be coming here in March.
PUT on your moonwalking shoes and get ready for a spectacular show that brings to life the music of Michael Jackson. Thriller Live, all the way from West End, London, comes to town this March. The show, presented by Milestone Production, is a musical extravaganza celebrating Jackson’s 45-year musical career, from his early Motown days in the Jackson 5 to his solo career highs as the King of Pop.
Thriller Live will be staged at Putra Indoor Stadium in Kuala Lumpur from March 19 to 25 (except March 23). Named after the legendary pop star’s bestselling album, Thriller, the show originates from Britain and is an international-scale production that has toured 28 countries since 2009. It features over 50 performers from West End, including an 11-piece live band to crank up the MJ classics.
This show was conceived in 2006 by British author/publisher Adrian Grant, who is renowned for his close affiliation with Jackson and a pioneer of many Jackson-related projects (from the Off The Wall fanzine to the stage musical Thriller Live). Choreography was handled by British director Gary Lloyd, who previously worked with artistes like Leona Lewis, Will Young, Robbie Williams and Girls Aloud.
Combining video footage, special LED effects, dazzling costumes and high-energy choreography, Thriller Live is set to truly rock you. Kuala Lumpur is also the only South-East Asian date for this touring production that has attracted not just the King of Pop’s fanbase but also theatre lovers.
The show’s crossover appeal is immense, especially since it’s loaded with MJ favourites such as I Want You Back, ABC, Blame It On The Boogie, Rock With You, Can You Feel It, Beat It, Billie Jean, Thriller, Bad, Smooth Criminal, Dirty Diana, The Way You Make Me Feel and more.
Jackson, who began performing at the age of five, has broken records since he was 11, and was a star from the age of 21. Thriller Live rolls out the superstar’s unforgettable pop hits.
For Jackson’s fanbase and music lovers, West End’s Thriller Live stands apart as a back-catalogue musical.

“Michael’s distinctive style, sound and dance moves have forever changed the pop music landscape. Although he has passed, his music legacy lives on,” says Milestone Production managing director Grace Lee. “We will never again have the opportunity to see the King of Pop live in action, but his music will live on inThriller Live,” she adds.
For the record, the late Michael Jackson played two concerts on his HIStory tour in Kuala Lumpur in 1996. He died on June 25, 2009.
Since its beginnings in London, Thriller Live, as a musical tribute, has steadily gained a strong following. You can expect Putra Indoor Stadium next March to be swamped by MJ fans.
For a consistent run, Thriller Live, has staged over 5,000 shows (and counting) worldwide since 2009. This longest-running show at the Lyric Theatre in London, and the 20th-longest in West End history, does not use Michael Jackson impersonators – it is entirely a celebratory presentation of his well-loved numbers and signature dance moves by a group of actors.
As a fun lead-up to Thriller Live in Kuala Lumpuryou can also join the Thriller LiveFlashmob Dance Competition, organised by Milestone Production.
Thriller Live will be staged at Putra Indoor Stadium in Kuala Lumpur from March 19 to 25 (except March 23). Evening shows will be held at 8.30pm, with additional matinee shows at 3pm on March 21 and 22. It is presented by Milestone Production with Star Publications (M) Bhd as the media partner.
