PETALING JAYA: Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) has stopped the search for more bodies at the Ampang LRT crash site near Putra Heights and confirmed that news of two workers being trapped in the rubble turned out to be untrue.
It said in a statement that the two workers were not near the site when scaffolding and formwork collapsed during the concreting of the deck slab, killing two others on the spot at 4.20pm Wednesday.
It said the search was called off at 1.45am Thursday.
Two Bangladeshi workers were killed in the incident.
“We sincerely regret the unfortunate incident and would extend a helping hand to the family of both workers,” Prasarana group director Datuk Zohari Sulaiman said.
Fire and Rescue personnel recovered the first body at the worksite at 10pm while the second body was recovered at 1.15am on Thursday.
Four other workers had minor injuries and were given outpatient treatment earlier.
Zohari said Prasarana along with the project’s contractor, management consultant, detailed design consultant and supervising engineering firm would give their full cooperation in the investigations.
