Return Indira's child, MIC boss tells cops

The police and relevant authorities should act immediately to return Indira Gandhi's daughter to her "soonest possible" given the court order, said MIC president G Palanivel.
"It is extremely important to note that the country's legal system is credible and the government has responsibility to ensure that the stakeholders can be trusted to implement and enforce all court decisions without fear or favor.

"In this regard, it is pertinent to note that Indira has won the case constitutionally; hence, we seek the authorities to put this case to rest by ensuring Indira gets her child soonest possible with the interference of police and respective authorities without further delay," he added.
In a brief statement late yesterday, Palanivel also cautioned that the case is being followed by international media and further delays to justice could sully Malaysia's image.
"In this respect the government is expected to uphold its commitment in ensuring justice (is) served to its people," said the national resources and environment minister.
He was commenting on the prolonged custody battle, which saw the Ipoh High Court on May 30 cite Indira's ex-husband K Pathmanathan @ Muhammad Riduan Abdullah ( right ) for failure to abide by a 2010 ruling.
The court in 2010 granted custody of the child, who now resides in Kota Baru with her father, to Indira.
Riduan, a Muslim convert, refused to return the child to Indira last week despite being cited for contempt as he claimed it was "too short notice" .
The Ipoh High Court specifically ordered police to arrest him if he failed to fulfill the June 6 noon deadline, which he had defied.
