According to CNN Penang's famed Asam Laksa is worth travelling half way around the world for! CNN scoured the planet to find 50 of the most delicious food ever created and guess what one of Malaysia's favourite food got into the top 10 list. Penangs Asam Laksa made Malaysian proud by getting into the top the 10 list by getting 7th place, on a list where French Fries didn't even make it to the top 50 list.
Their description of the Asam Laksa: "Poached, flaked mackerel, tamarind, chili, mint, lemongrass, onion, pineapple … one of Malaysia’s most popular dishes is an addictive spicy-sour fish broth with noodles (especially great when fused with ginger), that’ll have your nose running before the spoon even hits your lips."
The Chefs at The Westin did an excellent job and didn't disappoint. Every dish was tasty and the presentation was excellent, we didn't want to stop eating.
The Nasi Kandar, Char Kuey Teow, Rojak, Crabs, Roti Canai, Chicken Rice,Fish Head Curry and Asam Laksa were simply to die for and was as if you were having it in Penang. They even had live cooking stations with all kinds of fish and seafood.
It's not surprising that Penang Food is internationally known as one of the best fares in the world. From breakfast to supper you could have different items the whole week and still not finish having everything Penang has to offer.
The Taste of Malaysia promotion by The Westin Kuala Lumpur bring a different state of Malaysia's cuisine to KL every Thursday and will go on on till the end of the year. The next state that will be showcased next Thursday is the state of Perak.
