YORK: Social media giant Meta, donated $1 million to the fund for President-elect Donald Trump's swearing-in ceremony, as the company seeks to mend relations ahead of a second term in his administration that may introduce new rules on social media, USA Today reported on Thursday.
"This donation is the latest move by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg who shows his desire to work with Trump," according to a report quoted by Xinhua.
Zuckerberg has reportedly been trying to restore his relationship with Trump and other Republican leaders over the past few months, after receiving criticism in 2021 for blocking the former President from the Meta platform following the attack on the US Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. Trump, on the other hand, has been a frequent critic of Meta and in an interview earlier this year described the Facebook page as an "enemy of the people," according to the report. -NAMED
