Christmas market crash: Suspect charged with five counts of murder

MAGDEBURG (Germany): Suspects in the tragic attack at the Christmas market that claimed five lives and injured 200 people have been charged with various charges including murder, attempted murder and wounding, dpa news agency reported.
The suspect, identified as Taleb A, was charged with five counts of murder, several counts of attempted murder and causing grievous bodily injury.
He is now in pre-trial detention, according to a police statement. The suspect was brought before the court on Saturday night.
Among the victims killed in the incident was a nine-year-old child, authorities said.
Investigators believe the suspect acted alone as there is no indication of an accomplice based on the investigation so far.
Taleb A, a 50-year-old doctor from Saudi Arabia, has yet to reveal the motive for the attack.
However, prosecutors said that the suspect may not be satisfied with the treatment of Saudi refugees in Germany.
