MACC arrested two more individuals involved in highway project corruption in the Klang Valley

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) arrested two more individuals, two directors of a subcontractor company, for being believed to be involved in corruption for the construction of a highway project in the Klang Valley worth more than RM1 billion.
MACC sources informed that the male and female directors in their 50s were arrested between 5pm and 7pm on Tuesday when they appeared to testify at the MACC Headquarters.
He said they were brought to the Putrajaya Magistrate's Court yesterday morning and the remand order for five days until July 7 was issued by Magistrate Irza Zulaikha Rohanuddin.
"Both suspects are directors from the same company who are suspected of giving bribes to statutory body officials in return for getting work on a highway construction project that was previously carried out by another company," he told Bernama yesterday.
MACC Investigation Division Senior Director Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hashim when contacted confirmed the arrest and said the investigation was conducted under Section 16(a)(B) of the MACC Act 2009.
On Tuesday, Bernama reported that the MACC remanded two more individuals , the chairman of a company and the director of a subcontractor company, to assist in the investigation of a corruption case related to the project.
As of yesterday, MACC has remanded 14 individuals in relation to the case.
