Huawei’s latest flagship series, the P30, will be available locally starting April 6 while the pre-order starts today.

There are three models in the series – the P30 with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced at RM2,699, the P30 Pro with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage at RM3,799, and the P30 Pro with 8GB RAM and 512GB storage at RM4,399.

Both the P30 and P30 Pro with 256GB storage will be available in three colours: Aurora, Breathing Crystal and Black. The P30 Pro 512GB will only come in Aurora.

Those who activate the warranty on the HiCare app before May 5 will get to enjoy 18-month warranty instead of the standard 12.

The P30 Pro packs quad Leica cameras – 40 megapixels sensor with wide-angle lens, 20 megapixels with ultra-wide lens, 8 megapixels with telephoto lens and ToF (Time of Flight) sensor. The P30 lacks the ToF sensor and the sensor with ultra-wide lens is 16 megapixels.

Both have a 32-megapixel front-facing camera. To maximise the display, the phones have a dewdrop notch to house the front camera, and in-screen fingerprint reader.

The P30 has a 6.1in display and weighs 165g, while its larger sibling, the P30 Pro, has a 6.47in display and weighs 192g.

The P30 has a 3,650mAh battery while the P30 Pro has a 4,200mAh battery, and both support fast charging.

Only the P30 has a 3.5mm audio jack – those who get the P30 Pro will have to use a USB-C to 3.5mm converter.

However, the P30 Pro has better water and dust resistance – it meets the IP68 standard and can be submerged in water up to a depth of 1.5m.

The P30 meets the IP53 standard and can only withstand water splashes.

Huawei Malaysia product marketing director Luke Au says the first 6,000 to purchase the phone will get a Huawei Backup 1TB worth RM599, which lets users backup their phone.

The phones will be available from all Huawei experiential stores, participating telcos, SenQ, Harvey Norman and Courts Mammoth on April 6 – however, at this point it’s not clear how many Huawei Backup will be allocated to each store.

Every purchase of the P30 will come with a wireless charging case worth RM268, while the P30 Pro will come with a Snorkelling Case worth RM428.

Huawei will also accept trade-in of select older Huawei models, including the Mate 9/10/20 series and P9/10/20 series, at its official stores.
