KUALA LUMPUR: There was a small crowd at the start of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s trial, but a few ardent supporters still managed to create a ruckus.

Shortly after Najib entered the courtroom, former Padang Serai MP N. Gobalakrishnan was seen demanding to enter as well.

However, police denied him entry as the courtroom was packed with reporters, Najib’s sons Mohd Nizar and Norashman and several of his officers.

Despite being told that entry to the court was by arrangement, Gobalakrishnan began arguing with the police and recording the incident on his phone.

“This is a jungle court controlled by (Attorney General) Tommy Thomas,” he claimed.

Although the door was closed, his shouts could be heard from inside the courtroom.

After nearly five minutes, a police officer exited the courtroom and requested that he vacate the area, to which Gobalakrishnan shouted, “This is not your grandfather’s court.”

However, some other supporters also coaxed him to walk away, defusing the situation.

Meanwhile, a small group of supporters were seen waiting outside the court complex to greet Najib.

They were heard chanting “Malu Apa Bossku?” and “Hidup Najib” as he arrived and left.

Asked why there were fewer supporters compared to previous cases involving Najib, they said it was due to some being “swayed by false accusations”, while others who were civil servants were barred from attending.

“They have to take care of their rice bowl too, especially with this new government in control,” one supporter said.

Though they refused to identify themselves, the group said they were from Pekan and had driven to Kuala Lumpur specifically to support Najib.
