Sexual assault on toddler, carpenter arrested

SIBU: A 37-year-old carpenter has been arrested for suspected sexual assault on a three-year-old girl.
Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the victim's mother only lodged a police report two days after the alleged incident as she did not have transport to go to the police station.
He said that at about 4pm on April 8, the 21-year-old single mother, who had separated from her husband in January, had gone to meet a former classmate with her three-year old daughter in Permai Jaya.
“At about 9.30pm she went out to buy food, leaving her daughter with her friend in her house. Half an hour later, her friend called to tell her that her daughter was crying,” said ACP Stanley.
“She quickly brought her daughter home to have a bath, and that’s when she saw red marks and a little bit of blood on her daughter’s private parts.
“The child told her that her friend's husband had inserted his finger into her private parts,” said ACP Stanley.
Following a report lodged by the mother, police arrested the man at a cafe in Permai Jaya, and seized his handphone containing the porn video clip.
The case is being investigated under Sections 14(d) and 15(c) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
